UPDATE: From early December, I began my second public school contract, this time at the co-ed Gokban Elementary School. 30 Dec 09.
UPDATE: After finishing my term at Maehyang Girls’ Middle School in late August, I obtained my F4 visa and have begun to offer my services as a private tutor and conversational English instructor. 15 Sept 09.
I am a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with majors in journalism, political science and history. Born in Cheongju City, South Korea, and adopted at an early age, I followed an unusual path that led me to the home of a loving family in Southeastern Wisconsin. Now I am traveling back to Korea to teach English at a girls’ middle school in Suwon, the capital city of the country’s Gyeonggi province. Throughout the next year I hope to explore my family history, learn about my Korean heritage and develop my sense of self. In this way, the meaning of this excursion to Korea is both backward and forward reaching, representing the first step toward finding my past as well as discovering my future.
